Moultrie Edge 3 review: the simplest cheap cell cam, with the slowest published trigger
No SD card, four networks, GPS and AI for $79.99 on sale. The Edge 3 is the least fussy cellular camera at its price. It's also 0.50 seconds to trigger and needs an $8.99 plan, which is the whole review in a sentence.

Who it's for
The hunter who has lost photos to a corrupted card, forgotten a card in the truck, or spent a season fighting a camera's card reader. The Edge line removes the card entirely: images go to Moultrie's app. If that's your recurring frustration and your sets are feeders or scrapes, the Edge 3 is the cheapest way to make it go away. If your sets are crossings, keep reading, because the trigger will cost you.
No SD card, USB-C, four networks
Moultrie's spec table for the Edge 3: built-in memory "Yes," power input "USB-C," cellular "All 4 Major Networks" with Auto Connect, GPS "Yes," Moultrie AI "Yes," on-demand "Yes," Live Aim "Yes," 50° field of view. The USB-C input takes the POWER MAG III (5,000 mAh, 54 Wh, "18 AA" equivalent per Moultrie, 4-hour charge) or the 3.4W Solar Power Pack II. There's no AA tray in the spec table, so a POWER MAG is not optional; it's the battery.
0.50 seconds: what it means
Moultrie publishes "0.50 seconds." Its own Edge 3 Pro is 0.30 s, Edge 4 is 0.40 s. Among the cameras we ranked, 0.50 s is the slowest published figure. A deer walking at roughly 3 mph covers about 2.2 feet in half a second; at a 45-degree crossing 25 feet out, that can be the difference between centered and half out of frame. At a feeder or scrape where the animal stops, it's irrelevant. Set accordingly, and read trigger speed explained for the geometry.
Low-glow to 100 ft
"Low-glow," 100 ft flash range, 100 ft detection, 40MP stills, 1080p video. Solid mid-tier numbers; the low-glow LEDs show a faint red dot at night. Moultrie's no-glow Edge is the 3 Pro. If night detail at distance is the reason you're shopping, see best for night pictures.

Edge 3 vs Edge 3 Pro vs Flex-M2
The Edge 3 Pro is $60 more on Moultrie's page and buys 0.30 s, no-glow, 1440p and Trailcampro's 2026 cellular detection win, on the same plan; it's the Moultrie we recommend. The Flex-M2 is the same price with a faster trigger, an AA tray, a 2-year warranty and a free plan, but it has an SD card and a single low-glow array.
