Where the Edge 2 went
If you searched "Edge 2 vs Edge 3," here's what we found on September 21, 2026: Moultrie's Edge 2 and Edge 2 Pro product pages return 404, and neither model appears on Moultrie's cellular camera listing. The current lineup is Edge 3, Edge 3 Pro, Edge 4, Edge 4 Solar and Edge Solar. CAMLOCKbox still lists a Box 29 for the Edge 2 Pro, so if you own one, boxes exist. We don't rank a camera the maker no longer lists, so this page compares what Moultrie sells now. Search results still quote the Edge 2 at 0.40 s and 36MP and the Edge 2 Pro at 0.30 s and 40MP, which lines up with the Edge 4 and Edge 3 Pro respectively; treat those as the successors.
Trigger: 0.5, 0.4, 0.3
Moultrie publishes a trigger for every Edge, which we appreciate: Edge 3 "0.50 seconds," Edge 4 and both Solars "0.40 seconds," Edge 3 Pro "0.30 seconds." Detection and flash are 100 ft across the line. So the Pro is the only Edge for a trail crossing, the 0.40 s cameras are fine at a scrape or feeder, and the 0.50 s Edge 3 is a feeder camera. The Pro's no-glow flash and 1440p video are the other two reasons it's the pick; the Edge 3, 4 and Solars are all low-glow 1080p. Trailcampro's 2026 cellular detection shootout put the Edge 3 Pro first, the only independent result for any Edge.
USB-C only vs AA tray vs built-in panel
- Edge 3 and Edge 3 Pro: USB-C input. Power comes from Moultrie's POWER MAG packs (the POWER MAG III is 5,000 mAh / 54 Wh, rated "18 AA" by Moultrie, 4-hour charge) or the 3.4W Solar Power Pack II. No AA tray listed.
- Edge 4: Moultrie's page lists AA batteries or the POWER MAG III, plus USB-C. The only Edge with both routes.
- Edge Solar and Edge 4 Solar: built-in panel and rechargeable lithium included (the Edge Solar's is 2,600 mAh / 28 Wh; Moultrie doesn't state the 4 Solar's), USB-C backup, no AAs needed.
One plan, per camera
Every Edge uses Moultrie Mobile: Standard $8.99/mo per camera (1,000 images, 10 videos), Unlimited $12.99/mo per camera (unlimited images, 50 videos), Pro Series $22.99/mo. A paid plan is required; no free tier, no annual price published for Standard or Unlimited. Four Edges on Unlimited is $51.96/mo. - Feeder on a budget: Edge 3.

- You need an AA fallback: Edge 4, when it's back in stock.

Is the Moultrie Edge 4 better than the Edge 3 Pro?
No on the woods axes: the Edge 4 is 0.40 s and low-glow, the 3 Pro is 0.30 s and no-glow. The Edge 4 adds an AA tray, Buck Shot zoomed images and offline settings. It was out of stock on Moultrie's page when we checked.
Is the Moultrie Edge 2 discontinued?
Moultrie's Edge 2 and Edge 2 Pro product pages returned 404 on September 21, 2026, and neither appears on Moultrie's cellular camera listing. The Edge 3 line and Edge 4 are the current models.
Do all Moultrie Edge cameras need a plan?
