Cellular trail cameras with no monthly fee: the one real option, and how to make it work
Every brand we checked requires a paid plan except Spypoint, whose Free tier gives each camera 100 photos a month for $0. That's the honest answer. Here's what 100 photos covers, which Flex to buy, and when an SD camera is the better no-fee choice.

Spypoint's free tier, exactly
So a Flex-M2 at $79.99, or a Flex-Dark at $119.99, can run all season with no card on file. That's not a trial; Spypoint lists it as a plan. What it isn't is unlimited, and 100 photos is the entire budget.
Living inside 100 photos
One hundred photos a month is a little over three a day. Whether that's enough depends entirely on the set:
- Scrape, rub line, mineral site in October: a handful of visits a night. Often enough.
- Feeder at dusk with a doe group: 20 triggers an evening. You'll hit the cap in five days.
- Field edge with turkeys: hopeless on the free tier.
Settings that stretch it: longer delay between triggers (5 to 10 minutes at a feeder), single-shot instead of multi-shot, scheduled transmission once a day, and Buck Tracker AI filtering so does and blanks don't count against you (Spypoint lists it as free). When you hit the cap, the camera keeps recording to its card; you just don't get the photos until next month or until you upgrade. Basic annual is $4/mo for 250 if the free tier is close but not enough.

- Flex-M2 ($79.99): the value pick; dual SIM, GPS, 0.4 s, low-glow.
- Flex-Dark ($119.99): 0.3 s, 100 ft, no-glow and low-glow; the best camera on a free plan.

- Flex-M ($59.99): cheapest, but single-SIM; only if signal is strong and known.
